TapSmartTM EZsyncTM FAQ

TapSmart HandShare

Common questions and other helpful information for TapSmart EZsync.

  1. Why does my screen turn off every time a HotSync operation finishes?
  2. When I tried to HotSync a new version of EZsync to my device the HotSync failed, the HotSync Log said that the EZsync.prc and the EZsyncLib.prc files "Already exists". How can I get the updated files on my device?

  1. Why does my screen turn off every time a HotSync operation finishes?

Check the "Poweroff After HotSync" option. It is enabled by default. This causes the handheld to be powered off after the HotSync® operation started by EZsync and helps to conserve battery power. To examine this option setting, from the EZsync main screen, access the application menu, choose "Options", then choose "Preferences".

Even when the handheld is powered off, EZsync is still running and starting HotSync operations based on your configuration settings. You will see the handheld power up, the Hotsync operation start and complete, and then power off again.

  2. When I tried to HotSync a new version of EZsync to my device the HotSync failed, the HotSync Log said that the EZsync.prc and the EZsyncLib.prc files "Already exists". How can I get the updated files on my device?

EZsync uses a shared library to perform some operations in the background. If this shared library is running you will not be able to replace the EZsync prc files on your device. To stop the shared library, run EZsync and make sure the "Activate Continous HotSync" option is not checked, make sure to click the Done button to save the change. You should now be able to HotSync the new EZsync files to your device. When the HotSync is complete you can then recheck "Activate Continous HotSync" if desired.
