Using TapSmart EZsync --------------------- From the Palm Application Launcher, locate the EZsync icon and tap to start. If you have just recently installed EZsync, the icon may be located in the [Unfiled] category. You will have to agree to the license terms for the software to run. The EZsync main screen is divided into two areas. The top half shows the next Scheduled HotSync status and the bottom half shows the next Continuous HotSync status. Tap the [Config] button to configure a Scheduled or Continuous HotSync operation. Configuring a Scheduled HotSync. The Scheduled HotSync comes in two different flavors. You configure both from this same screen. The One Time scheduled HotSync occurs once and only once at the time specified during the upcoming 24 hour period. You configure this by setting the future time and HotSync type by tapping the pick list next to the "One Time" option. A Recurring Scheduled HotSync occurs at specific times based on a repeating weekly schedule. Each day of the week can have a distinct scheduled time period. Tap the pick list next to the day of the week you are interested in to set the time and Hotsync type. You can also deactivate and/or activate the Recurring HotSync by tapping the pick list next to the "Recurring" option. Configuring a Continuous HotSync. A Continuous HotSync occurs at regular intervals. This can range from 5 minutes to 180 minutes and is set via the "HotSync Every" option. Simply tap the pick list to choose the interval. The type of HotSync is set via the "HotSync Type" option. You have two choices, local or remote. A local HotSync is typically done via the cradle or USB cable. A remote HotSync is typically one that occurs over a network. You can set a weekly schedule of time ranges during which the Continuous HotSync should occur. Just tap on the day of the week you want and then set the start and end time period using the dialog box. Use the "Activate Continuous HotSync" option to enable or disable Continuous HotSync by checking the box. The "Charging Required to HotSync" option controls whether a HotSync operation will start if you are on battery or wall power. HotSync operations consume power, so you can use this option to ensure the HotSync only happens when plugged into a power source. The "Device Must be Idle to HotSync" option controls whether the HotSync operation will start and possible interrupt your work or not. Idle is defined to mean sitting at the Application Launcher screen or the EZsync utility main screen. The EZsync application menu contains a single Options menu. You can choose one of these menu items: Options | Config Scheduled HotSync Choose this menu item to configure a Scheduled HotSync. Options | Config Continuous HotSync Choose this menu item to configure a Continuous HotSync. Options | Preferences Choosing [Preferences] allows you to enable/disable the following options: [Quit HotSync When completed] When this is checked it causes the HotSync program to be terminated and the Handheld will return to the Application Launcher screen or the EZsync main screen that was running before the HotSync. It this is not checked, HotSync will be left running after the HotSync finishes and the device will be on the HotSync screen. [Poweroff After HotSync] Checking this option will cause the screen to power-off after a HotSync operation. This is useful to conserve battery power. [HotSync When Placed in Cradle] Checking this option will start a HotSync each time you place your Handheld into a cradle with a Universal connector, or when you plug in your Handheld to a HotSync cable with a Universal connector.
