  4. I am having trouble getting KeyLink to Activate using USB. What might be wrong?

Only one program at a time can use the handheld's USB connection. There are several other Palm software programs that communicate with the PC over USB. Some of these programs put themselves in the Startup folder and are always running, usually showing up as icons in your system tray. These other program may interfere with KeyLink. When running KeyLink you should close any other programs that may communicate with your handheld over USB.

  5. I got the error message "Incompatible version of USBPort.DLL". What is wrong?

KeyLink does not work with some of the older versions of the Palm Desktop software. In order to run KeyLink you will need to upgrade your Palm Desktop software. You can download a free upgrade of the Palm Desktop software from: http://www.palmone.com/us/support/downloads/win_desktop.html.

  7. How can I use the Palm shortcut feature?

KeyLink does not fully support the Palm shortcut feature on all devices. KeyLink provides an alternate way to achieve most of the shortcut functionality. KeyLink allows keys to be configured to expand to a text string, this text string can also contain macros that when used will expand out with the current date or time. To use this feature you should configure the desired key combination with an Action of Text and then supply your text string in the box to the right. To insert the date or time just click the button with the "..." on it and you will be able to insert the date and time macros into the text string.

  8. How do I start KeyLink on the PC, I cannot find a shortcut to it?

The KeyLink installer creates a TapSmart KeyLink folder on the Start Menu under Programs. If this folder does not contain an entry for TapSmart KeyLink then the most likely cause is that you do not have Java installed or your version of Java is too old. You can download the latest Java software from www.java.com. Once you have downloaded and installed Java you will need to reinstall KeyLink.

  11. What is the Quick Send option?

Quick Send is an option present in KeyLink running on Palm OS 5 devices. Quick Send effects the way that KeyLink performs it's USB communications with the PC. With Quick Send checked you may see better performance on some PCs. However the downside is that Quick Send is incompatible with some Palm/PC combinations. The only way to know if it is of any benefit in your situation is to try it out. Note: KeyLink only checks the setting of Quick Send at Activation time, changing the setting should only be done while KeyLink is deactivated.
