MobilityWare is a leader in paid iPhone apps. For weeks, Apple has been keeping iPhone application developers in the dark as to the success of their efforts. While Apple had reported the total number of downloads ( over 10 million in the first weekend ), no download numbers had been made available for individual applications.
When Apple finally made the results available on July 31, MobilityWare had five of the Top 100 paid applications: Solitaire, Blackjack, Hangman, r u drunk and Finger Paint. No other developer had more Top 100 paid applications.
One of MobilityWare’s applications, Solitaire, was among the Top 10 most popular paid applications. Over half-a-dozen Solitaire applications are available on iTunes.
“Obviously, we knew our games, and Solitaire, in particular, were doing well from their iTunes rankings. We just didn’t know how well they were doing. It’s nice to be able to quantify it,” said Dave Yonamine, Director of Marketing, MobilityWare.
MobilityWare is continuing to develop new iPhone applications. “Stay tuned,” Yonamine said, “We expect the public will be excited about some of the new games being developed.”
“Of course, we will continue to enhance our current iPhone applications with updates that enhance the user experience,” Yonamine added. MobilityWare released a free update for Solitaire on August 1. Other updates are pending approval from Apple.
